I am a cultural historian specialising in the artistic cultures of the seventeenth century, with particular focus on women’s history and female artists. Having recently been awarded my PhD on early Stuart literary and visual culture I am now researching for a book about women at the court of Mary of Modena.

I work as a freelance arts writer, researcher, critic, and art consultant, and have written for Apollo Magazine, The Art Newspaper, CNN Style, The Conversation, and the Financial Times. I have also acted as a historical consultant for Working Title/Monumental Pictures. My passion lies in telling stories that have been lost in time, and I’m particularly interested in how these stories move through time and media.

I am represented by Rebecca Sandall at PEW Literary Agency.
